NBL Canada Finals Game 1: London 105 Halifax 97

The London Lightning defeated the Halifax Hurricanes 105-97 in Game 1 of the NBLC Finals at Budweiser Gardens on Friday to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven championship series.
Garrett Williamson and Joel Friesen notched 17 points apiece to pace the Lightning, while London's Ryan Anderson nearly recorded a triple-double with 14 points, 10 boards and nine dimes. Antoine Mason of Halifax led all players with 30 points, and his Hurricanes teammate Billy White contributed 25 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
A tightly played contest saw the Lightning go in front 24-17 after the first quarter, before Halifax cut the lead to 51-49 at halftime and the Hurricanes pulled even with London at 81-81 going into the fourth quarter.
Halifax shot .422% from the field and totalled 53 rebounds, while London made half of its field-goal attempts and recorded 35 boards.
Game 2 tips off at 7 p.m. EST Saturday at Budweiser Gardens, before the series shifts to Halifax.
London also won Game 1 of the 2016 NBLC Finals against Halifax, before the Hurricanes reeled off three straight victories and eventually won the series in seven games.
