Magic Land Highly Sought-After Point Guard - Jahii Carson

Former NBL Canada Newcomer of the Year Jahii Carson Signs with Team

(Moncton, New Brunswick – August 3, 2018) The NBL Canada's top Newcomer in 2017 will be playing in Moncton this season. The team announced today that it has comes to terms with Jahii Carson, an explosive scoring point guard from Mesa, Arizona for the upcoming 2018-19 NBL Canada season. 

Carson, who was highly touted as one of the top point guards in the United States coming out of high school, starred at Arizona State from 2012-2014, where he was named the PAC 12 Co-Rookie of the Year, as well as a 1st team All-Pac 12 selection in both his freshman and sophomore seasons with the Sun Devils. He was also a member of the United States U19 National Team that competed in the 2011 World Championships in Latvia. 

Following his stellar career at ASU, Carson was one of 59 players invited to the NBA pre-draft combine in Chicago in 2014 where he impressed scouts and coaches earning him numerous NBA workouts as well as a spot on the Houston Rockets NBA Summer League team. 

Moving forward, Carson has this to say. "The NBL of Canada has done nothing but show me love and respect and I'm happy to return with being a part of a new franchise, The Moncton Magic. i have unfinished business in the NBL with coach Joe. Blessed to be apart of the organization, can't wait to meet and greet the fans of Moncton." 

Now entering his 5thseason at the professional level, the 5'10" dynamo will be re-uniting with Head Coach and GM of Player Operations Joe Salerno after the two spent the 2016-17 season together in the NBL, where Carson was named the league's New Comer of the Year, averaging 20.4 points per game (good for 4thin the league) to go along with 6.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds and shooting over 50.0% from the floor. 

"Jahii is a legitimate NBA talent. Those types of players only come around in this league every so often, so you can imagine how excited we were to get this deal done" commented Salerno. 

Following his first season in Canada, Carson signed with Korovios Amaliadas in Greece's top division where he proved once again to be one of the best imports in the league finishing in the league's top five in scoring. 

"He is the type of player that can compete with anyone, in any league in the world. He is excited about joining the Magic and competing for an NBL Championship."

Carson marks the 4thplayer currently signed by the team for the upcoming season 2018-19 NBL Canada season, joining returnees Corey AllmondDenzell Taylor, and Canadian rookie Gentrey Thomas.
