(LONDON, ON) The London Lightning beat the Windsor Express . It was a back and forth match-up that led to the Lightning just closing it out with a 3 point shot by Xavier Moon with 1 second left. The Bolts won with the final of 147 to 144. Putting the Lightning record to 13 -16.
The Lightning were leading for most of the game until the fourth where Windsor came rushing back and tied the game at 114 with a Ryan Anderson 3 pointer from almost half court. Overtime had more struggles for the Bolts who at one point were down by 9. With just seconds left Xavier Moon made it to the free throw line and sunk both to tie the game at 127 and bring us to double overtime. London came surging out in the double OT but Windsor kept it close hitting a 3 to tie it at 144 with 17 seconds left.
Xavier Moon got the ball back and drilled a 3 point shot and it was the dagger the Lightning needed and
gave them the victory.
It was a great team effort by London tonight with 3 players scoring over 20 points for the game in Xavier Moon, Kevin Ware, and Marcus Capers. Total they had 8 players in double digits for the game. A huge proponent of the victory tonight was the teams passing and defense, collectively earning 37 assists and 17 steals. Kevin Ware and Marcus both had excellent all around games, both totaling 20+ points, 7+ assists, and 9+ rebounds.
Head Coach Elliott Etherington commended the team for their tenacity and fight against adversity tonight saying that. "We stepped up and did what we needed to do to get the lead in the fourth but...Our ability to fight back even when things were down is what I am happy about." The team has had a lot of close games and it showed fight and their willingness not to back down tonight with constantly coming back into the game when they looked like they were out.
