The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Mike Poole of the Halifax Hurricanes has been named Player of the Week for the week ending February 10, 2019.
Poole, a 6'5" forward who played collegiately at Iona (N.Y.), led the Hurricanes to two victories by averaging 23 points per game in the Halifax wins.
"This is the second time this season that Mike Poole has earned Player of the Week honours," said NBL Canada league statistician Chuck Miller. "His determination and drive have helped the Hurricanes move to within three games of the Moncton Magic for the top of the NBL standings."
The National Basketball League of Canada is also pleased to announce that Mamadou Gueye of the Sudbury Five has been named Canadian Player of the Week for the week ending February 10, 2019.
Gueye, a 6'6" forward who from Quebec City who played collegiately at the University of Alberta, scored 18 points per game in two Sudbury victories this week.
"I played with this kid when we were teammates in Taiwan," said Sudbury head coach Logan Stutz, "and I wanted him from the start for our team, and once he came in the area, I said come join us. He's so versatile, he can guard and play many positions, and he can score in a ton of ways - and excel in defence as well."
