Magic Break Record En Route To OT Victory Over Storm

Story by: Austin Deuville

The Moncton Magic set yet another record, breaking their home winning record from last season (16-2). The Island Storm gave Moncton fans a second scare at the Avenir Centre but the Magic prevail in a game that required overtime to crown a winner. After a game winning 3 by Trey Kell at the buzzer on February 24th, the Moncton Magic once again defeat the Island Storm, 115-110 and win the season series 5-1.

Moncton knows Corey Allmond isn't afraid to take a big shot. He relished in the spotlight down the stretch, finishing with 24 points, 5 assists and 2 steals. His vocal personally and signature made basket shoulder shimmy is what makes the combo guard such a beloved fan favourite in this city. With Trey Kell going down with a lower body injury in the first quarter (did not return); Gentrey Thomas and Jason Calliste stepped up in the starting point guards absence, contributing with 16 points each off the bench.

However, the Player of the Game is awarded to Billy White. White played a game high 45 minutes and finished with a game high 27 points on 59% shooting from the field. The Las Vegas native also pulled down 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

For the Island Storm, Guillaume Boucard finishes with a team high 21 points, while adding 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Alex Campbell chipped in with 20 points and 6 rebounds. While Sampson Carter (17 points and 7 rebounds) and Malik Story each added 17.

No days off. The Moncton Magic (23-11) are back tomorrow night (March 12th) playing host to the Sudbury Five at 7pm. It'll be the first appearance for the Five at the Avenir Centre. Extend your March Break one more day to cheer on your Moncton Magic as they take on the league's leading scorer, Braylon Rayson (24.7 PPG) and the Sudbury Five.
