From shooting hoops on the side of the highway in rural Newfoundland, to going head to head with Kobe Bryant; Carl English has written quite a story.
He experienced the tragedy of losing his parents at a young age and the triumph of a 20 year basketball career, as well as being a husband and father.
Carl played NCAA D1 at the University of Hawaii for the Rainbow Warriors and traveled the World playing professionally in Countries like Croatia, Italy and Spain,
He was also Captain Canada for several years as part of a Canadian National Team that helped lay the groundwork for much of the success basketball in Canada currently enjoys.
Carl believes one of the biggest lessons in life is being able to get back up and move forward, no matter how hard or how many times you get knocked down.
That fighting spirit has guided Carl his entire life.

Suns At Night
From Burlington, Ontario, Daniel Dooley of the Windsor Express was born into basketball. Mini hoops in the basement and lines on the driveway helped fuel his passion for the game.
After a fabulous five year experience as part of the Guelph Gryphons, Daniel received an email that led him to pro basketball and the NBLC.
He grew up sneaking time to watch the Phoenix Suns on TV and one of his favourite players is a Canadian Icon.

Cliff Clinkscales is a very familiar face to fans of the Halifax Hurricanes and to fans of the NBLC; and the man from South Side Jamaica Queens, NY has played his share of basketball.
At a young age, Cliff's older sister put a basketball in his hands and his life path in sports was set in motion.
He's played on the legendary concrete courts in New York City, and for the Blue Demons of DePaul University and got his main nickname from the GOAT.
Cliff has three favourite NBA players, and one of them is why he wears his number 12 and he tells us why he is so connected to this former NBA star.
He's has set the standard for regular season assists in the NBLC and his desire and drive to win is a great as ever.

Aaron Sanders, Windsor Express broadcaster, loves basketball, eye popping suits, the San Antonio Spurs, and the National Basketball League of Canada, and its fans.
From North Dakota, to Texas, to Ontario, Aaron had had quite a journey in his 24 years.
We chat about his life as a "military kid", his first ever pro arena experience and how he ended up as a broadcaster with the NBLC.

Cavell Johnson, Head Coach of the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans, grew up knowing all about hard work and work ethic.
From Doing chores around the farm, to honing his skills on the basketball court, Cavell has never shied away from doing what it takes to succeed.
Experiences of an NCAA tournament match-up vs Georgetown to playing in several countries around the World, have all provided Cavell the many ingredients that make up his current coaching recipe.
Even though basketball has shaped his life in so many ways, it was losing his brother to suicide in 2017 that has had the biggest impact on his life. Now Coach Johnson talks to others in hopes that those who are struggling will seek the help they need.

Ryan Marchand, Head Coach of the Halifax Hurricanes has packed a lot into his 31 years. Growing up in Northern California. His path to coaching. Landing a job in the NBA. Spending a year teaching in South Korea.
Yes indeed, Ryan Marchand has had quite a journey.
From the D League to the G League to the NBLC, Coach Marchand is happy to be in Canada and excited to be coaching one of the best franchises in the league.
We were happy to spend some time with Ryan and get to know him a little better.
