(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury FIVE are pleased to announce that 5'9" guard Braylon Rayson has re-signed with the team for the upcoming 2019-20 season. The FIVE made the announcement via social media Monday with a live video of Head Coach Logan Stutz visiting Rayson in his home state. The 24-year-old Dallas, Texas native went to Central Michigan University where he scored 1888 points and made 271 3's over 4 years.
"For Sudbury to get back the reigning MVP is really something special," said Head coach Logan Stutz. "I know Braylon loves this organization and fans. That was a big reason for his return. I also know he has accomplished many things in this league and is hungry for a championship. Braylon is becoming a stronger leader everyday and has set himself up to lead us to a championship this year."
Rayson was a standout player and fan favourite in the FIVE's inaugural season. He is the reigning MVP of the National Basketball League of Canada and set the NBLC record for most 3's in a season last year with 165 while still shooting 36%. With the FIVE last season, he averaged 24.7 points per game and 5 assists per game.
"I'm honored and very excited to be back playing for the best organization in the league," said Rayson. "It feels good to be back home."
Rayson was a former teammate of Head Coach Stutz in Windsor during the 2017-2018 season.
The FIVE open their season at home on November 22nd when they host the Moncton Magic at 7:05pm.
